Fans may have been blindsided by Ariana Grande’s ex anthem thank u, next, but the exes in question weren’t.
When a fan joked on Twitter that Ricky Alvarez and Big Sean might be surprised to hear their names dropped in her latest single, the songstress revealed that her two former flames “heard it before it came out.”

Ari tweeted:
Ricky and Sean are just two exes Ari named in the track, along with the late Mac Miller and the freshly-dumped Pete Davidson. Mac unlikely didn’t know of the track before his death in September, as the song was seemingly written after Ari ended her engagement to Pete last month.
It’s also unclear if the Saturday Night Live star heard the song before its release. A source revealed that the two have not stayed in touch weeks after their breakup, telling People:
“They have no contact now and she keeps moving forward. She seems very happy and positive. She isn’t talking about dating and is instead focused on work and herself.”
Ari may not be talking about dating, but she’s certainly singing about it!
Haven’t heard the track yet? Take a listen (below).
