Arson Attack Costs Sony London $49.5 Million

Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation’s distribution warehouse in London was destroyed in an arson attack during the citywide riots.

The fire ruined up to 30 million discs from independent music and film companies. The initial damage estimates are around $49.5 million!

They should find the arsonist and send him the bill. LOLz!

Good thing they were prepared. An hour later they had already enacted their Disaster Recovery Plan. Darren Houghton, managing director of U.K. distribution at Sony DADC said that a crisis team was able to quickly find alternative warehousing and “opted for two different locations.”

Smart! Don’t keep all your eggs in one basket.

Also, the employees from the destroyed warehouse will be spread out among the two new facilities, so everyone gets to keep their jobs. Yay!
