Swedish Prison Denies A$AP Rocky Is Being Subjected To 'Inhumane Conditions'

A$AP Rocky's detention center fires back!

Is A$AP Rocky staying in jail… or a 5-star hotel??
As we reported, after he was arrested over a street fight in Sweden, the rapper is staying at the Kronoberg detention center in Stockholm where he is allegedly being subjected to inhumane conditions.
On Wednesday, Fredrik Wallin — the governor of the prison — spoke to Page Six where he defends the facility against criticism.

In a statement, Wallin said the residence is clean, has been “recently renovated,” and offers prisoners three meals a day — including minced meat, potato soup, sausage stew with rice, cod, mashed potatoes, chili, and spicy pasta.
He said:

“Normally, you live in a prison cell which consists of a desk, a bed with a mattress and a TV… During the last few years, we have completed a large reconstruction where all the prison cells as well as the rest of the remand prison have been completely renovated, which make the remand prison in good condition. I have no knowledge on any current diseases in the remand prison.”

A remand prison in Sweden is a facility for individuals who have been arrested for a crime and are awaiting trial. Additionally, asylum-seekers awaiting deportation, substance abusers, or mentally ill people waiting to be placed in an institution could also be held at this space.
Wallin added:

“If someone spills their food, has any type of accident, or hurts themselves which might cause blood, we immediately sanitize, using a professional cleaning company… This is done for the sake of the prisoners as well as for our staff for them to have decent working conditions.”

However, he would not confirm or deny whether Rocky was in the jail’s custody,
Despite this, on Tuesday, the artist’s manager — John Ehmann — launched an online petition demanding his client be released from Swedish officials.
Ehmann wrote:

“The conditions of the facility are horrific. Some of the inhumane conditions Rocky and his colleagues are facing at the Stockholm Detention Center include 24/7 solitary confinement, restriction of amenities for the most basic of human functions, access to palatable and life sustaining food as well as unsanitary conditions.”

“24/7 solitary confinement” could mean Rocky is under restrictions, where he may be denied visits, access to newspapers, radio, and television. Additionally, his phone calls may be monitored or fully denied.
However, a source for the publication said Rocky is “not on restriction.”
According to a statement from the courts, a Swedish prosecutor has until July 19 to decide how to prosecute the rapper for the alleged June 30 incident.
He will be detained until then, and if the prosecutor files an extension, the courts will “then decide whether to accept the extension of the period or not.”
