AT&T Drops T-Mobile Merger Plans

AT&T Drops T-Mobile Merger Plans

ATT Drops Plans
Who didn’t see this a mile away??
After all the FCC fuss, everyone knew that AT&T would just eventually drop their plans to try and get a T-Mobile merger completed. And that’s just what they did.
Also, T-Mobile gets $4 billion just because it didn’t work out!
AT&T still thinks it was in the best interest of consumers, though, regardless if the FCC thought it would mean less competition and higher prices:

“The AT&T and T-Mobile USA combination would have offered an interim solution to this spectrum shortage. In the absence of such steps, customers will be harmed and needed investment will be stifled.”

We’d be pissed to if we put that much money into something that didn’t happen! Just figure out a clever way to deal with the spectrum shortage — we’re sure there’s some sort of avenue not traveled yet!
Until then, chins up, AT&T!
