'Bachelor in Paradise' Couple Krystal Nielson & Chris Randone Break Up After Less Than A Year Of Marriage

BiP couple Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone break up.

It’s officially over for Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone.

The couple, who met and fell in love on season 6 of ABC‘s Bachelor in Paradise, has decided to call it quits after eight months of marriage together. These two had one of the very few successful relationships to come out of the Bachelor franchise and made it down the aisle, so, we’re very sad to hear about this breakup news!

On Friday, the pair issued a joint statement about their separation to BachelorNation.com:

“It hurts to announce that at this moment, we have mutually decided to separate. Never did we imagine this scenario, but we’ve come to a point where we both need to work on ourselves.”

And they continued from there, thanking family, friends, and all who had supported them along the way:

“We are best friends that love and care for each other so deeply. We’ve appreciated everyone’s love and support so far throughout our journey and we just ask that you please respect our privacy as we navigate through this.”

Sigh. So sad. We were rooting for y’all!

Fans of the show know that Krystal and Chris had very similar journeys on their respective stints on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette; they were both portrayed as villains who stirred up controversy and failed to capture the hearts of leads Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Becca Kufrin. Luckily, they were given a second shot at finding love on the franchise’s summer spin-off and once the “Goose” (Randone’s nickname) met Nielson, the rest was history!

The reality TV stars got engaged at the end of their season and later tied the knot in June 2019 in a televised ceremony down in Mexico.

At the time, Randone told E! News of the couple’s engagement:

“I think our love story promotes giving a second chance at whatever it is in life or whatever type of relationship because there’s always light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s not how you start but how you finish.”

And last year, back in August, Nielson told Entertainment Tonight she and her husband had discussions “in the beginning of the year” about having kids together:

“We’ve talked about starting a family. I’ve gotten off of birth control.”

We can’t imagine what must have changed for them since then. At the time of writing, Chris appears to have taken a social media hiatus as his Instagram and Twitter accounts are no longer active.

Breakups freaking suck!! We wish them both well as they move on to the next chapter of their lives without each other.
