Don’t you just hate it when your ex shows up unannounced with a heaping dose of shade that nobody ordered??
Well, that’s exactly what happened to new Bachelorette star Clare Crawley over the weekend!
On Saturday, the 38-year-old starlet had to put ex-boyfriend and former Bachelor lead Juan Pablo Galavis in his place after he openly criticized the crop of (mostly younger) men who’ll be vying for her heart — and it was pretty epic!

First, Galavis boldly tweeted:
“I just SAW the GUYS for @Clare_Crawley Bachelorette season and its gonna be INTERESTING seeing HER get hit on by KIDS on their 20s… I think this MIGHT be the 3rd SEASON Im gonna watch.”
But Crawley was quick to clap back and put the former professional soccer player, 38, in his place! She wrote:
“And yet here you are, older than 99% of them and still cant practice compassion and kindness…”

Fans of the ABC show will recall their unforgettable breakup during the finale of Juan Pablo’s season six years ago. When Galavis dumped Crawley for his final pick, Nikki Ferrell, she infamously told him off with a speech full of icy one-liners including, “I would never want my children having a father like you.” It’s pretty clear from this Twitter exchange there’s still some bad blood between these reality TV alums!
A member of Bachelor Nation chimed into the conversation and came to Clare’s defense, tweeting:
“I knew you’d have some sort of jealous petty response to this.”
Unsurprisingly, the Venezuelan-born star denied any such feelings of jealousy:
“Jealous? I just see it FASCINATING…”
JP even followed up to note how excited he is for his ex to finally find love again:

Yeah… OK, sure dude. We know how to spot shade when we see it and we have to say, Clare expertly handled that situation like a boss!! This kind of energy has us absolutely pumped to see her lead season 16 of the hit dating competition show — but as we reported, it’ll be quite a while before viewers see any roses given out.

Warner Brothers Television announced on Friday that “with the rapidly changing events related to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution,” the studio was halting production on more than 70 shows and pilots until further notice, including The Bachelorette.
Crawley recently took to her Instagram and issued a statement on the production hiatus:
“Well hello! Talk about most dramatic season ever! In all seriousness, Everyone’s health is the most important priority at this time, and as I’m sure you’ve heard, we are pressing pause for now on filming The Bachelorette. We are taking it day by day and even hour by hour as this is so unpredictable. All I know for sure is that my heart is so full from all the love and support this far, and am still so excited for my journey to begin. I’ve waited 38 years for these moments, what’s a little bit longer, right! xoxo.”
