Hannah Brown Reflects On Her Failed Bachelorette Engagement To Jed Wyatt One Year Later: 'I Couldn't Shake The Doubt'

Hannah Brown reflects on her failed engagement to Jed Wyatt on 'The Bachelorette' one year late.

We can’t believe it’s been a year since Hannah Brown accepted a proposal from Jed Wyatt on The Bachelorette. Time flies when you’re trying to forget painful old memories!

As fans will recall, the ABC starlet chose the Nashville-based singer-songwriter over Tyler Cameron and eventual Bachelor Peter Weber in the final episodes of her season. She later broke it off with him after it was revealed he was still involved in a serious relationship just before appearing on the show. Now, Hannah Beast is looking back on her journey with Jed, admitting she had major doubts when she said “yes” to their engagement!

The 24-year-old wrote about it in a lengthy Instagram post to mark the anniversary of what should’ve been the happiest day of her life. She began:

“Ever look back on a memory and it feels like just yesterday… but also like a different life? Me too. Exactly a year ago today.”

The Alabama native included a shot of herself waiting at the altar for Wyatt, as she continued reflecting:

“I remember that day. I don’t like staying there for too long, but I remember it really well. I remember thinking, ‘Oh, this has all the makings to be the best day of my life…but gah, it doesn’t feel like I thought it would.’ I didn’t have words (or maybe I just didn’t have the courage to say them?) but the pit in my stomach was screaming, ‘this ain’t it’ (funny how sometimes it’s the people around you that help you articulate your feelings better than you can). I could fake a smile but I couldn’t shake the doubt, and looking back, I know why. That ending was not easy, but it was necessary to get me here.”

Oh no. Faking a smile while someone asks you to be their life partner definitely wasn’t a good sign. Also, it’s got to hurt for the Tannah fans out there considering Cameron said, “this ain’t it,” right as she dumped him minutes before saying yes to Jed. The painful irony…

The DWTS alum continued with a piece of advice she would’ve given herself in hindsight:

“If I could go back and tell her something, I would whisper, ‘It’s going to be ok. You’re right, this ain’t it, but it‘s the direction. So open up your hands, and let go of the control. Trust this process, it’s going to be worth it. Also, nice butt!’”

And she ended with some sage words of wisdom for anyone who might find themselves in a similar situation:

“If you are reading this right now, wondering how to navigate a situation that feels so painful and so not what you wanted, maybe you’ll let me tell you what I would’ve told myself: Hold on. Keep moving. You’re going to make it. This ain’t it but what’s coming is so much better. ⁣Sometimes you’ve gotta walk through the shadows to stand in the sun. And trust me, you’ll really appreciate the way it feels shining down on you, too.”

Bachelor Nation diehards know that Wyatt has since moved on with model Ellen Decker. Miz Brown, on the other hand, is still playing the field and remains optimistic about finding her person someday. Despite all of the buzz around her and Tyler, she recently told fans during an IG Live that she’s not limiting her options:

“I can date other people that are not on The Bachelor. Y’all are driving me crazy!”

She also weighed the pros and cons of jumping into a relationship vs. being single for a little while longer:

“You know, I definitely want to be in a relationship. I think I’m finally getting to the point where I can say that I could do that, at this point in my life. I think I needed a little break and definitely took that. But I’m gonna be single until it’s right. I don’t just date around, really. I mean, you have to date people, but I date seriously, you know?”

Your person is still out there, gurl! And everything will fall into place when the timing is right. At least, that’s what coupled up folks are still preaching these days, right? But seriously, we’re rooting for Hannah’s happiness, always!
