To clarify, she signed a pledge that wants to do away with abortions, pornography and of course, same-sex marriage.
Such an original platform, huh?!
An Iowa conservative group called “The Family Leader” has been passing around this “pledge” to influential members of our government for some time now, seeking those in power to swear their allegiance to their fight against all actions they deem to be against “family values.” The group announced yesterday that Michele Bachman, one of the Republican’s candidates for next year’s Presidential election, signed her name happily to the pledge and urged others to follow in her example.
Just so you know exactly what we’re dealing with here, there are 14 points in the pledge for a return to more wholesome living. Among them was the abolishment of abortion, “quickie-divorces,” a new ban on gay service members and to bring an end to same-sex marriage. Of the latter part of the pledge, Bachmann said “in any elected or appointed capacity by which I may have the honor of serving our fellow citizens in these United States, I the undersigned do hereby solemnly vow to honor and to cherish, to defend and to uphold, the Institution of Marriage as only between one man and one woman.”
Normally, we would just write this woman off, but she happens to pushing this agenda in one of the few states where gay marriage is actually legal. We don’t want that destroyed at the hand of more ignorance, when people have fought so hard to make it so.
Spew this dribble out elsewhere, Bachmann!
