Most true Back To The Future fans know that Michael J. Fox wasn’t the first actor cast as Marty McFly!
Originally, up-and-coming method actor Eric Stoltz received that honor, and played the role well into the first few weeks of production!
But in the middle of filming, director Robert Zemeckis noticed a problem — Stoltz was a great dramatic actor, but he didn’t bring the comedy that was needed for the film!
So, they went back to recast and eventually found Fox, who was obviously PERFECT for the role.
But Stoltz was forced to continue shooting for another few weeks, totally unaware that his days as Marty were fading away faster than the McFly kids in that picture! AWKWARD!
