According to reports, the illustrator, artist Barry Blitt, “satirizes the use of scare tactics and misinformation in the Presidential election to derail Barack Obama├óΓé¼Γäós campaign.├óΓé¼┬¥
We think it’s adding fuel to the fire, though. There are some people out there who will think that it’s Michelle and Barack who are being satirized.
It just seems to reinforce the inaccurate shizz that’s always attributed to the Obamas.
Obama spokesperson Bill Burton said in a statement, ├óΓé¼┼ôThe New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Senator Obama’s right-wing critics have tried to create. But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree.”
A McCain mouthpiece said, “We completely agree with the Obama campaign, it’s tasteless and offensive.”
We bet the Republicans are LOVING this, though!
To make things fair we think the New Yorker should feature a McCain ‘satire’ on the cover too.
