Now THAT is how you crash a party!
In Juneau, Alaska it isn’t uncommon to see a bear roaming somewhere, but this latest story would surprise even most of the residents there!
A juvenile black bear fell through the skylight of a house where the residents were celebrating their infant child’s birthday with a decent sized party and LOTS of cupcakes!
Here’s how daddy Glenn Merrill described it:
“I was literally in the room, and I heard this cracking. And the next thing you know, there’s this bear that, I mean, literally, fell right from (the skylight). It was like one metre away from me.”
The partygoers immediately fled from the room, but were able to see what the bear was up to. The juvenile black bear was spotted going to town on some birthday cupcakes that were originally meant for the homeowner’s infant child.
The parents shouted at the bear until he “casually” left the room.
Unfortunately the bear was unable to continue to his party crashing ways after this latest incident. Police officers had to kill the juvenile male bear since they determined it posed a threat to human life.
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game’s Ryan Scott said:
“We don’t take killing or destroying bears lightly. People were inside that building. I think it was appropriate for that given the situation.”
It’s sad that they had to kill the bear – although since the bear crashed an infant’s party we can kind of see how they’d believe this bear to be dangerous to humans. But at least the male juvenile black bear went out in a pretty cool way.
Cupcakes at a party after falling through a skylight? That’s a pretty epic story to tell up in bear heaven.
