The supermodel, who is of Palestinian descent, spoke out against Donald Trump‘s controversial recognition of Jerusalem this week, which has already erupted violent clashes between the two Middle Eastern countries long embattled in territorial conflict.

In her caption, Gigi Hadid‘s sister included sentiments written by her close friends, DJs Simi and Haze Khadra, who are also Palestinian Americans speaking out in support of their native country.
Calling Trump’s decision a “huge setback to any hope for peace,” the identical twins shared:

“It is absurd that Palestine, a country where Muslims Christians and Jews lived side by side for centuries, has been fighting to be recognized since the inception of Israel in 1948, and to add insult to injury yesterday Trump ├óΓé¼╦£decided’ to recognize Palestine’s capital of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ as if it’s his to give away. This is a violation of international law and a huge setback to any hope for peace.”
