He isn’t afraid to take on these atheist titans!
Ben Affleck recently went on Bill Maher‘s HBO show Real Time With Bill Maher but the actor wasn’t there just to promote his own movie Gone Girl.

In fact he went toe-to-toe against Bill Maher and another famous atheist guest Sam Harris and Mr. Affleck was provoked to do as much when Sam Harris said the following:
“We have been sold this meme of Islamophobia, where criticism of the religion gets conflated with bigotry towards muslims as people. It’s intellectually ridiculous.”
But Ben strongly disagreed with that, and thought Mr. Harris was being racist to the majority of the 1.5 billion people who believe in and practice Islam.
Here’s Ben’s retort:
“Hold on ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ are you the person who officially understands the codified doctrine of Islam? [Your characterization] is gross and racist. It’s like saying, ├óΓé¼╦£Oh, you shifty Jew!'”
​Later on down the line Bill Maher, who definitely disagreed with Ben Affleck, said:
“It’s the only religion that acts like the mafia ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ that will f*cking kill you if you say the wrong thing, draw the wrong picture, or write the wrong book.”
But Ben was NOT down with this argument, and expressed as much when he said:
“Your argument is, ├óΓé¼╦£You know, black people, they shoot each other.'”
Both parties here definitely had their own good points, but we’re just impressed with the fact that Ben had the gonads to speak his mind — especially considering how many movies he’s working on!
He’s got a lot to lose if he potentially voiced a controversial thing in this difficult conversation about religion, but this guy just cannot back down!
And that’s what we love about him!
