Both Sean Penn and Ben Stiller are putting forth individual efforts to help Haiti rebuild after 2010’s devastating earthquake.
Penn’s J/P Haitian Relief Organization has received a $2.25 million grant which will be used to get people into homes through rental subsidies, as well as by creating new housing and repairing existing homes.
The actor released a statement saying:
├óΓé¼┬¥We believe this grant marks an important step in the rebuilding of Haiti. Together, we will persist until the hundreds of thousands still displaced are safely home.”
Ben Stiller founded the Stiller Foundation to help build schools in the ravaged country, but most recently has organized an art auction to raise money for various relief efforts, including Penn’s!
The September 22nd sale being held at Christie’s auction house in New York City is expected to raise up $10.5 million!
Awesome job, guys!
