So sad to hear this!
Actress Betsy Palmer died of natural causes on Friday at the age of 88, her agent revealed on Sunday.
Betsy had a career over several decades, costarring with Henry Fonda and Jack Lemmon in the 1955 war movie Mister Roberts, regularly guesting as a celebrity panelist on game shows like I’ve Got A Secret, and later starring in the Dallas spinoff Knots Landing.
But she will be best remembered for her iconic role as Pamela Voorhees in Friday The 13th.
As Jason’s mother [Spoiler Alert, but srsly it’s 35 years old] is revealed to be the killer, Betsy pulls off every twisted emotion with such truth that the shocking twist became one of the best in horror history.
It’s a spectacularly scary performance from a wonderful actress that elevated a B slasher movie to a classic and Palmer to a legend.
R.I.P. Betsy.
