Billboard Is Doing Something It's Never Done In History -- Counting Streaming Services!

It’s about time!
Billboard is making a pretty huge change to the way it comes up with its lists.
That’s because although it has been ranking artists on the Hot 100 for 56 years, it’s never once counted streaming services in its numbers.
Until now!
Starting the week of December 4th, songs played on apps like Spotify, Rhapsody, and Google Play will all count for sales.

The numbers break down as follows; 1,500 plays is the same as an album sale, while 10 downloads will also make one sale.
Does anyone else think this news comes oddly close to Taylor Swift and Spotify’s very public break up? Especially considering Taylor has been No. 1 for five weeks now, and this change will only help other pop stars.
Something smells fishy to us…
