WTF is going on??
Y’all, it only took ONE day after the election of Donald Trump for the most marginalized and oppressed group in the US — Black women — to get a big target painted on their backs. Multiple Black Americans have come forward with mysterious and absolutely vile text messages they received on Wednesday, the day after the presidential election took place. And if they’re indicative of the attitudes we have to look forward to in this country over the next four years, we’re absolutely cooked as a nation.
One Detroit woman, identified only as Renee, contacted Fox 2 Thursday to shed light on a viciously racist text she received on Wednesday from a strange number. It reads:
“Good afternoon Renee! You have been chosen to pick cotton at your nearest plantation. Be ready at 10am with all of your personal items & possessions because you will never see them again. We will pick you up in a white bus. You will be checked for drugs & other substances! Once you make it here you will be brought to your designed area. You are in group 10B”
What the f**k!!! If THIS is the kind of voice that feels empowered, we’re doomed! Seriously!

Another Detroit woman also reported receiving a similar message:
“Greetings You have been selected to pick cotton at the nearest plantation. Be ready at 12AM NOVEMBER 13 SHARP with your belongings. Our Executive Slaves will come get you in a Brown Van, be prepared to be searched down once you’ve entered the plantation. You are in Plantation Group D.”

This is so heinous. Seriously. But it wasn’t even isolated to these two incidents… No, folks in Virginia and South Carolina have also reached out to their local news stations, and people all across X (Twitter) have reported receiving similar messages. Take a look at more (below):

At this time, it’s not clear who is behind the text messages, but it raises concern about the potential growing empowerment of white supremacy. One theory Reddit users have been debating is whether Russia could be involved to try to intentionally cause more political unrest and division amongst the country. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time they interfered.
However, one user on X explains why she feels they’re coming from people the victims know:
the plantation slavery texts are really insane because they had to come from somebody who knows that you’re black. like these are coworkers, classmates & colleagues.

We’re not so sure about that. The amount of info taken from us digitally all the time, including images, is wild. The Facebook data alone would be enough — and we know that’s out there.
According to Fox 2, similar messages surfaced in January 2021 around the time of the insurrection. This needs to be STOPPED!
Amid all the fears about women’s rights being stripped and grocery prices skyrocketing under Trump, this has barely been brought up… But we remember how much more brazen all the racists and homophobes got the last time Trump was in office, using his platform to stoke the fires of hate. We remember the marches and his “both sides” response, we remember how many more random attacks there were on Asian Americans in the street, we remember LGBT-owned businesses being the victims of arson. This feels like just the beginning, we’re so so sad to say.
