Blue Bloods Actor & Comedian Alex Duong Dead At 42 After Battling Cancer & Blindness -- Read His Heartbreaking Final Message

Stand-up comedian Alex Duong has sadly passed away.

It’s with heavy hearts we report that the beloved comedian, who notably appeared in the drama series Blue Bloods, has died at just 42 years old after a battle with cancer. Last year, Alex told the Los Angeles Times he had been diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a “rare soft tissue cancer,” according to the Cleveland Clinic. Alex told the LA Times he developed a headache behind his eye early last year, followed by a bulge in his left eye that was so noticeable his boss sent him home from work. Ultimately, Alex was informed he had an “extremely aggressive” tumor blocking blood flow to his optic nerve, which eventually caused him vision loss.

By late December, a tough update was offered to fans on Alex’s GoFundMe:

“Two days ago, Alex suffered a seizure and fell, hitting his head hard — all in front of his four-year-old daughter, Everest, who brought him a pillow and tried to comfort her daddy while waiting for help to arrive. It was terrifying for her, and the emotional toll on this family is something no child — or parent — should ever have to face.”

It was also discovered that Alex had cancer in his spine, which caused “excruciating back pain.” Fast forward to Friday, the comedian went into “septic shock,” and by Saturday, he passed away. A GoFundMe update revealed:

“With the heaviest hearts, we share that our dear Alex passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by love and dear friends. He was comfortable and thankfully out of pain.”

According to the post, Alex was able to see his wife Christina and their daughter Everest the night before his death:

“He was alert enough to say goodbye to his little girl, whom he has treasured every moment since the day she was born.”

At this time, the Duong family is “devastated, but so grateful for the support, prayers, and generosity you have all shown during this unimaginable time.”

How incredibly heartbreaking.

In January, Alex shared one of his final messages of hope on a friend’s Instagram video talking about his condition. He simply wrote:

“I will walk out of here”
