Bob Marley‘s granddaughter plans to sue the Rialto Police Department in California after she and two guests were mistaken as thieves at their rented Airbnb property.
On April 30, Sharon Marley‘s daughter Donisha Prendergast (above) and her two friends — Kells Fyffe-Marshall and Komi-Oluwa Olafimihan — were spotted packing luggage into their car outside of their San Bernardino rental.

A neighbor allegedly failed to “recognize the vehicle or the people as neighbors, or the homeowner” and called 911, allegedly thinking the three — who are all black — were burglars.
After the cops arrived at the scene, authorities eventually confirmed they were “Airbnb renters and were at the residence as guests.”
According to the New York Daily News, on Monday, the three served the police department with notice of a pending lawsuit for the incident.
Marley’s descendant, who is being represented by Miami-based lawyer Jasmine Rand, posted video of the scene on Instagram with the following caption:
“Got surrounded by the police for being black in a white neighbourhood. Smh. I’m sad and irritated to see that fear is still the first place police officers go in their pursuit to serve and protect, to the point that protocol supersedes their ability to have discernment. Many have suffered and died in moments like these. That’s a crazy reality check. Give Thanks for life, and the ability to stand our ground. We are stronger together. Use your voice collectively.”
