Boeing Denies Gay Married Couples Of Equal Benefits

This is so awful!
The Boeing Company, which is based in Washington, has been negotiating employee pensions and reportedly are making no bones about denying gay couples equal rights.
The executive director of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, Ray Goforth, talked about what happened in the meetings, saying:

├óΓé¼┼ô[Boeing├óΓé¼Γäós position] says to employees that they can be discriminated against based on who they are. Their answer was that they had no intention of granting pension survivor benefits to legally married same-sex couples because they didn’t have to. We were profoundly disappointed to see that they would use a loophole to engage in institutionalized discrimination.├óΓé¼┬¥

Here, here!
While the state of Washington legalized gay marriage, Boeing is sticking to the fact that pensions are federally regulated.
The airplane-makers are being coy though, and not giving straight answers about the issue, saying, ├óΓé¼┼ôNothing is ever final in negotiations until they’re over. What we said today is that [these pension benefits] are not currently addressed in the contract.”
The company’s spokesman, Doug Alder, also called the accusations “blatantly false and, quite frankly, offensive.”
You know what they say, every rumor has a bit of truth to it!
We hope this is just a misunderstanding though, because denying anyone’s rights is just so wrong!
