Bomb Threats In Aspen Ruin New Year's Eve

This is sad. Some crazy-ass douchebag ruined New Year’s Eve for thousands of people in downtown Aspen.

A former resident of Aspen sent over some bomb threats Wednesday on one of the town’s busiest night of year.

Suspicious packages along with threatening notes were found at two banks. Police said that a bank in downtown Aspen first found the package and note at around 2:30pm. Another nearby bank reported a similar issue a few minutes later.

The packages were wrapped in Christmas paper, sitting on top of some pizza boxes in black sleds with the notes indicating a threat to the community.

This forced the evacuation of a 16-block area of downtown. Even a fireworks show that was scheduled for 8:30pm was moved to midnight and later had to be canceled.

Better safe than sorry!

Police officials did not release the contents of the packages or notes, but they did state that bank security cameras were able to get a photo of the alleged criminal. They found an older man left the packages and were able to identify him as 71 year-old Jim Blanning.

Was he just senile or freaking crazy?
