As he continues to extend his international reach, no doubt to do more fantastic charity work, Bono met with the first female elected as President of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
It’s not known what the pair spoke about during their private meeting, but we do know this…
Bono presented her WITH…an iPod full of U2 songs.
Really? An iPod? That’s it?
C’mon, Bono! 6th graders get iPod’s for getting B’s on tests these days!
At least give her something she possibly, might not have like an iPad 2. Ha!
Jk! We’re sure she appreciated the thoughtful gift and hope you left a positive impression on behalf of the American music industry.
What would U give a foreign leader as a gift?
UPDATE: We’ve learned a bit more about the iPod! An exclusive source says that the iPod was RED. Bono “founded RED to work with companies, like Apple, to create branded products and direct up to 50 percent of gross profits from the sale of those products to the Global Fund to help fund AIDS programs in Africa. Since its introduction, RED has generated more than $160 million for the Global Fund.”
Guess it was a truly meaningful gift after all!
