Earlier this week, Boston Bombing survivor Rebekah DiMartino had us grinning ear to ear when she decided to write a surprisingly light-hearted and funny “breakup” letter to her soon-to-be-amputated leg!

Well, the loving mother and wife has finally gone under the knife, and the loss of her limb has not changed her upbeat attitude one bit!!
While amputating her leg may not have been an easy decision, Rebekah continues to look at the positive aspects of her new life after 18 months of pain and numerous procedures! In fact, now that she’s recovering from her surgery, she says she feels GREAT:
“I feel wonderful now. I thought I’d wake up and freak out that my leg is gone, but every time I look at it, I get more excited about the future. I’m so happy, and there is no part of me that’s sad in the least bit.”
The only appropriate response we can think of for that is, WOW!
Although Rebekah decided a while ago that she wanted to go through with the surgery, she says her son Noah was NOT a fan of her ultimate decision!
However, she says he was eventually swayed and even had a hilarious revelation, as she claims he said:
“I’m gonna have a part robot mom!”
Ha! Talk about seeing the glass half full!!
Rebekah and her family continue to inspire us with their amazing strength and attitude, and it’s great to see someone proving to the world that there is life after tragedy!
