So inspiring!
Despite having been born without the lower two-thirds of his arms, fifth-grader Nicholas Maxim received an award Monday for entering in Zaner-Bloser’s 20th annual National Handwriting Contest!
We’re so glad that he has positive people around him willing to show him he can do anything he puts his mind to:
“We submitted his entry because we felt his penmanship was amazing considering he completes most of his work without using his prostheses.”
That’s incredible!
He does his writing by holding the pen between his two upper arms, and focusing on every movement. Apparently, he’s very diligent in everything he does!
The competition was so moved by his entry that they actually created an award in his honor: Nicholas Maxim Special Award for Excellent Penmanship.
They hope, and we do too, that this will inspire all kinds of other kids to enter, and to never give up on something they believe in doing!
Congrats, Nicholas! We’re proud of you!
