This is so heartbreaking…
Popular Instagram influencer Bridget Bahl AKA “fiancé Bridget” revealed sad news on Sunday evening. In a new video posted to her grid, the 41-year-old updated her fans on her ongoing fertilization treatments. She and her husband Michael Chiodo have been trying to get pregnant through IVF for some time now, and she was preparing for her sixth round when she got the devastating news she had cancer.

In the clip, Bridget explained how she went in for bloodwork for the IVF treatments, but ended up speaking to her doctor about “something in my breast”:
“I was maybe two or three days into the shots, and I had the routine bloodwork, sonogram with my doctor, and I told him I had felt something in my breast.”
It was at that point her doctor advised her to put the IVF shots on pause and go to get her breast checked out. She said she didn’t believe anything was wrong because she felt fine:
“He got me in in like a day or two, and I was completely convinced that it was fine, it was just a cyst and it was from the hormones.”
Sadly, that wasn’t the case. Bridget said when she was shown the scans of her breast in the office, the doctor said:
“‘Bridget, I have been doing this for a long time, and I do not like what I see’.”
The doctor immediately got her in for a biopsy after a bit of a fight, and confirmed what everyone was hoping wasn’t true:
“Unfortunately, [she] confirmed that I do have breast cancer and that it has spread to a lymph node.”
So, so sad! The influencer went on to say everything has been a “nightmare” while trying to process what’s happening as well as go to all her doctor’s appointments. On top of this, she’s dealing with the heartbreak of fertility struggles. But she still has hope:
“The good news is that the type I have, it is very responsive to a targeted treatment, which gives us so much hope. I know that I’m going to be okay, and I just also know there’s a really scary road ahead. And I don’t want to do it, but I believe through the grace of God I can do it.”
As for her IVF retrieval treatments, she confirmed this would be her and her husband’s final attempt:
“We didn’t start at the most ideal time. There’s not enough time to wait to do another round, so I’m just asking for prayers. I would just love to get another embryo. It would mean so much to me if you guys could pray about it.”
Wrapping up her video, Bridget said she’s sharing these details with her followers to encourage them to take care of themselves:
“This platform is like 90 percent women, and it feels like way too huge of an opportunity to not share. You have to do your self exams, and if you feel something, you have to say something, and you have to get it checked out. Do not wait … If you don’t wait, you will have such better opportunity to treat it and get it and fight it. I am so grateful for you. I am so blessed by this community. I cannot encourage you enough to please, please do your self exams, and my hope is that this helps someone else.”
What a selfless outlook. We’re glad to hear she’s able to be optimistic in such a tough situation. As far as what is ahead for her, she said she’s going to go through chemotherapy, surgery, and possibly radiation in the near future.
