Brie Larson and her longtime boyfriend Alex Greenwald have ended their engagement.
A source revealed the Captain Marvel star and the rocker have decided to pump the brakes on the road to holy matrimony, telling People:
“They have taken a step back from their engagement for the time being but they remain close.”
The 29-year-old actress got engaged to the 39-year-old actor/ musician, who fronts the band Phantom Planet, in May 2016 after several years of dating.

Greenwald was by Larson’s side throughout the awards season of that year, which culminated in her winning an Oscar for her performance in Room. She memorably gave her beau a shout out while accepting the Best Actress award, calling Greenwald her “real partner.”
Aw, so sad!
Of course now Brie is taking a step into superstardom with Captain Marvel — maybe she isn’t ready to settle down right now? It wouldn’t be the first time success split up a relationship.
Maybe things will pick back up after Marvel’s Phase 4… if they’re still “close”?
