He will be missed, but his art will be remembered.
Sigmund Freud’s grandson Lucian Freud, who was well known and highly honored for his portraits of the human form, has passed away at 88-years-old.
Over the years, Freud received much praise for his work, and Time Magazine critic Robert Hughes once referred to him as “the greatest living realist painter.”
Freud is also known for his 2008 portrait Benefits Supervisor Sleeping, which sold for $33.6 million, the most that has ever been paid for a painting by an living artist!
Thanks for bringing beauty and culture to the world, Lucian. Your memory will live on through your work.
