Move Over, Kate Middleton! Kim Kardashian Inspires Makeup Trends All The Way In England!

Forget the Kate Middleton effect, this one’s all Kim!
According to British retailers like Debenhams and Selfridge’s, nude or colorless lipstick sales have surpassed red and pink lipstick sales for the first time in the country in the past three years, with reports of a 62% increase!
The reason has been attributed to Kim’s love of neutral lipstick tones. She’s only been photographed sporting a bold lip color a few times, but most of her rouge choices tend to be light tones!
Sarah Stern, health and beauty director at Debenhams’, said:

“Even reality star Kim Kardashian has recently undergone a make-under towards a softer more relaxed appearance I like to call naked make-up.”

We’re not sure that Kim’s been sporting a “softer appearance” lately, but we can agree that she has championed the nude lip more than many other celebs.
Further credit for the sudden trend has gone to fashion week.
Aaron Foster, PR manager for House of Fraser, explained:

“Post fashion week we saw a definite spike in nude lipstick this year. Most people are pretty clued up about what’s happening on the runway as soon as the show happens. And, while they might not be able to ‘get the fashion look’ for a few months, beauty is different. You can usually find any colour, particularly in lipstick, instantly. After the spring/summer 2014 shows, where there a lot of nude lipstick was used, we saw a definite pick up in natural shades of lip gloss, sticks and balm. Last season we saw a spike in coral and pink lipstick sales, but now they’re dropping off and it’s all about nude.”

Anyway, if you’re feeling bored of color on your mouth, feel free to go nude — you’ll still be on trend!
