Bruno Mars‘ new album The Romantic is here! And so are all the fan theories…
The second single from the much-anticipated album is a devastatingly heartfelt wedding song called Risk It All. In the lyrics, Bruno talks about how he’d do anything for the one he loves (no catching grenades mentioned this time, tho!). The music video itself features the man himself playing his guitar as he marries — a lookalike of his ex?!
Yep, that’s what fans immediately claimed! In case you didn’t know, Bruno was in a very private long term relationship with model Jessica Caban for 13 years. They dated from 2011 to 2024 before calling it off for good.
It was rumored everywhere that Jessica was ready to get married — and, we mean, who can blame her? The way this man sings about wanting to settle down and spend his life with his lady is TOO romantic. Plus, dating for 13 years with no ring? Oof! But word has it that the Just The Way You Are singer isn’t one to settle down, and that’s ultimately what ended the relationship.
In his music video that dropped Friday, that whole narrative is challenged. He gets married, settles down, and grows old with a woman who looks eerily similar to Jessica. Watch for yourself (below):

Across social media, the internet has been reacting to this video, with a lot of people VERY mad at Bruno for rubbing salt in the breakup wound:
“Imagine you break up with the guy because he keeps dragging his feet on marrying you and only cares about partying, cigarettes, and cachaça, and then he releases a music video GETTING MARRIED and GROWING OLD with a girl who looks just like YOU. Bruno Mars, you DOG that you are!”
Ouch! Well, when you put it like that… More fans tacked on:
“He’s so shameless, he used that to get her back and he’s gonna string her along for even longer.”
“artistic free will. He doesn’t want to grow old with her but likes to imagine love”
“Making the clip is easier because he doesn’t need to actually get married.”
“Man, I thought I was seeing things, dude When I laid eyes on it I was like, huh?”

Some came to his defense, though, writing:
“I’d forgive him and marry him lmao”
“He misses his ex so much. Mars didn’t even try to hide it.”
