Police are hopeful that they will soon find Parker Wells alive.
As we have been reporting, the 11-year-old boy — who is autistic, non-verbal, and neurodivergent — has been missing since last Thursday after he left his dayhome in Calgary. Law enforcement launched a massive search for Parker, with the help of hundreds of officers, search-and-rescue teams, specialized units, volunteers, and more. However, they’ve yet to find him. And as more time passes with no new sightings of the young boy, people are naturally starting to fear the worst. But the police are not giving up yet.
During an update on the search efforts on Wednesday, law enforcement stressed that “there is a strong hope” that Parker is still alive. Acting Staff Sgt. Scott Guterson added:
“There may come a time when we have exhausted all the reasonable searches for Parker, but that day is not today. We are doing everything we can to find Parker and bring him home.”
Investigators believe Parker may be hiding on a vacant property and released a list of streets in the Thorncliffe community. They’re asking anyone to contact them if they know a house is empty around the area. Sgt. Guterson continued:
“I cannot recall a time in the city where a missing child has been missing for this long, which is why we’re ramping up our efforts, and in choosing which houses to actually ask for permission to enter, that’s based purely on geography.”
