Camila Mendes and Charles Melton are hitting the brakes on their relationship… for now. Per an exclusive E! News source, the Riverdale co-stars have been “taking a break from their relationship” for “a few months now.”

The insider spilled:
“Cami and Charles have been separated for a few months now. They are taking a break from their relationship. Their relationship escalated very quickly and they are taking time now to focus on their work and themselves.”
Apparently, both actors have been “stressed” which has caused “ups and downs” in their relationship. The source explained:
“They both have movie projects separately and it’s been a lot on both their plates. Nothing in particular happened, they just both felt busy and overwhelmed and it was a lot of pressure on them.”
On top of working on their hit CW series, Melton has been filming the upcoming flick Swing in Louisiana, which has likely taken time away from his former lady love. The confidant divulged:
“They are still in touch and both understand they need to be cordial while on set and throughout press for the show. They have been filming together while being split and things have been normal.”
Hopefully, this won’t change their professional relationship too much or cause tension on set, but ending things with a castmate can often get messy. The insider revealed:
“Everyone is very close on the show and are all very good friends. They can’t ignore each other so they just remain cordial and try and focus on filming. They are still filming Riverdale season 4, but will have a break for the holidays for a few weeks.”

Taking a closer look at their social media may prove the insider’s information true, that things have been cold between them for some time. Aside from a cast photo shared by Melton in October, neither of the two have shared a snap together since their August anniversary. We wonder how Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse feel about all of this…
