Captain America Creator Dies At 98


The creator of one of America’s greatest superheroes has died.
Joe Simon co-created Captain America with Jack Kirby. The character was famously introduced during World War II.
On the first cover of Captain America, Cap punches Hitler in the jaw.
Simon passed away at the age of 98.
Cap rivaled Superman as one of the most popular characters during the war but Cap’s popularity waned after the war ended.
After leaving Timely Comics, Marvel’s forerunner, for DC’s predecessor, National Comics, Simon and Kirby created other superheroes such as Captain Marvel.
But Simon will always be remembered for his work with Captain America.
In recent days, Cap’s popularity has returned.
Chris Evans stars as the superhero in Captain America film.
He will also appear as Cap in the upcoming Avengers movie.
