Cardi B is throwing red flags on racial injustice… and the ideas of being a single mother!
In a new interview with GMA, the Money rapper opened up about why she turned down performing with Maroon 5 at this year’s Super Bowl Halftime show and decided to mend her broken relationship with husband Offset.
Speaking to ABC News’ T.J. Holmes, the 26-year-old said balancing her skyrocketing career and raising her 6-month-old daughter Kulture required a bit of sacrifice: gurl just doesn’t have the time to party like she used to.

The Grammy-nominee explained:
“I don’t know, I did the parties when I was young. You know, I’m 26 now. I work almost 24 hours. I’m a mom… Once I’m in there … I’m in the party, like, I enjoy myself. But it’s like I want go home.”
Having kids will do that to you!
Bardi admitted that while juggling her work and being a mom “is hard,” giving baby Kulture a good life keeps her motivated to make money moves. She added:
“But it’s like I just think to myself … her future’s going to be so secure. Like, oh my gosh, she can have a Lambo when she’s, like, 18.”
The rapper added that she eventually wants to have “more kids,” which is another reason she’s continuing to put 100% into her career — not to mention, her tumultuous marriage.
Months after Bardi announced that she and Offset had split and were getting a divorced, she now says the two are trying to work things out for the sake of their (eventually growing) family, explaining:
“I feel we’re going to be all right. You know, got to take it slow… [I feel like it’s] important [to have] two parents… at your household.”
Something that’s also important to the performer is putting her foot down on racial injustice, which is why she skipped out on the offer to perform during the Super Bowl halftime show.
Cardi told GMA that the only way she would have joined Maroon 5’s performance this year was if the NFL “hired my friend back” — referring to former player Colin Kaepernick, who has not been signed by any teams since protesting racial injustice by kneeling during the national anthem.

Revealing that Kaepernick’s protest means “a lot” to her, because he’s standing up for the “different ethnicities of minorities” she grew up with, the mother-of-one added that she only would have performed if “the guys take action on what’s really going on. And understand like why was this so important and such a uproar. Understand why.”
Cardi was applauded by many for refusing to perform at the halftime show. But she didn’t refuse to take money from Pepsi — which sponsored the halftime show — by starring in the company’s Super Bowl commercial.
Sure, momma’s gotta make money moves and all… but is that a bit hypocritical? Watch Cardi’s interview (below) and share your thoughts in the comments.
