On Wednesday, Cam Newton took to Twitter to announce the arrival of his baby boy with longtime girlfriend Kia Proctor. How exciting!

The Carolina Panthers quarterback wrote:
My longtime girlfriend and I were extremely blessed to have a son last week. Our family is excited and thank you all for the well wishes!

We wonder why the twosome waited so long to share their happy news? Perhaps, the new parents were just wrapped up in enjoying their bundle of joy.
Though it seems the football star’s delayed announcement was to benefit his team, rather than his family. He added:
I’ve been quiet about this because I didn’t want to create a distraction for my team and appreciate the privacy in this joyous time.

Apparently, the tiny tot was born on Christmas Eve as the 26-year-old left practice early in order to head to Atlanta, GA where his lady gave birth.
In fact, many fans became suspicious during Sunday’s Atlanta Falcons game when the American athlete performed a touchdown dance that featured him cradling a football like a baby. Sneaky, sneaky!
We couldn’t be happier for Cam and Kia on their latest addition! Congrats again, you two.
