Not an alternate. Not someone who turned down the job. Juror #3, an actual juror from the case, is shedding some light on what went on in the heads of the 12 decision makers in the Casey Anthony case.
Jennifer Ford, a 32 nursing student, came forward today to talk about what it was like being a juror on such a horrific case and how she and her fellow jurors ultimately decided to acquit her. As the case’s prosecutor and other experts theorized, it came down to a lack of concrete evidence. Jennifer explained:
“I did not say she was innocent. I just said there was not enough evidence. If you cannot prove what the crime was, you cannot determine what the punishment should be.”
There are lots of people who would disagree with you there, Jennifer. At least on the point that the prosecution didn’t provide enough evidence to prove her guilt, but there is no going back to that now.
As for why she and her fellow jurors agreed to stay silent in the hours following the ruling, Jennifer reveals that the moment was just too much for them all to bear. She adds:
“It was because we were sick to our stomach to get that verdict. We were crying and not just the women. It was emotional and we weren’t ready. We wanted to do it with integrity and not contribute to the sensationalism of the trial.”
Not such luck with that. The most shocking thing about this trial is that Casey Anthony walked away from it – and that’s partly your doing. Still, you are the one who needs to live with conscience and your decision. If you think you made the right call, then we don’t know what to say to you … other than watch yourself. We mean that sincerely. There are a lot of very angry people out there. We understand your need to clarify your stance, but it might’ve been safer for you to stay quiet.
