This is beyond sad.
American Top 40 creator Casey Kasem has been silent as his children and his wife battle over his conservatorship.
It turns out there is a reason why he isn’t speaking up about the situation, and that’s because his mental health is in bad shape. Very bad shape.
His daughter Julie, from a previous marriage, filed the legal document in court in the ongoing case against her step mom Jean, who’s been married to Casey for 33 years. It is a report from a doctor who examined the creator of America’s Top 40.
Here is some of what the examining physician reported:
“Major impairment to short term, long term and immediate recall memory.
Major impairment to verbally communicate.
Major impairment to perform simple calculations, plan simple tasks and reason logically.
Severe disorganized thinking.
Moderate hallucinations.”
We were already aware Casey was suffering from an advanced form of Parkinson’s disease, and now it’s clear he’s undergoing dementia, too.
Like we said – this is crazy sad.
We hope the step mom and the children are able to settle their differences soon, so the kids can spend the little time they have left with their father.
