Cate Blanchett was on hand to support the Sydney Theatre Company’s “Greening the Wharf” initiative which captures rainwater from the roof and stores it to service the building’s showers and toilets.
The actress attended the launch event for the rain harvesting system with her husband, Andrew Upton, who serves as an artistic director for the theatre company with Cate.
She commented on the reticulation system that provides 100% of non-potable water to all the arts companies at The Wharf, saying:
“We’re all pleased to bring this innovative engineering technology into our creative lives today and indeed to be a showcase of how such systems can function to great economic and societal benefit.”
We’re happy to hear Cate is so environmentally conscious and willing lead the utilization of rain harvesting technology.
