CBS has decided the pull the plug on one of its pilot thats a bit too similar to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
The network tried pitting a loner, female hacker with a private investigator but Sony Pictures slapped them with the threat of legal action.
CBS then tried a major rewrite, from changing the hacker from a loner to one with a beau, to changing her sidekick, a white male PI, to a black female lawyer.
But…Sony isn’t having it due to Rooney Mara‘s the girl “profession.”
But aren’t most shows and flicks remakes anyway (including The American GWDT?!)? Many U.S. programs have come from the U.K. and many of the new pilots are on tap are just rehashed ideas.
Legal battles like this are very uncommon. We wonder what’s got Sony itching for a fight…
