Looks like his apology wasn’t good enough… obviously!
CeeLo Green recently took to Twitter, allegedly saying “if someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously,├óΓé¼┬¥ in regard to his rape allegations.
Well, people are NOT happy with him, and they’re letting him know!
The singer was co-headlining a Freedom Live brand show on September 20th, but not anymore! The Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling military installation in Washington, D.C., where he was supposed to perform, posted this message to their Facebook:
“We seek a Department-wide culture of gender dignity and respect where sexual assault is completely eliminated and never tolerated, where sexual assault victims receive compassionate and coordinated support, and where offenders are held appropriately accountable. Unfortunately, one of the performers we signed for the JBAB Freedom Live show on 20 September recently posted comments on social media that we consider to completely inconsistent with Navy core values. Regardless of intent or context, the lack of sensitivity towards an issue that is one of the great challenges facing our Navy is unacceptable. As a result, we have made the decision to pull CeeLo Green from the Freedom Live event on 20 September.”
Good for them! We need more organizations to take strong stances like this! CeeLo was co-headlinig with Little Big Town, and there’s no word on a replacement yet.
The former The Voice coach also had a gig in October, where he was headlining the Gretna Heritage Festival in Louisiana, but they also replaced him, posting:
“CeeLo Green has been removed from the #GretnaFest line-up, as he does not represent the festival’s wholesome family environment.├óΓé¼┬¥
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts have replaced him.
This just goes to show that rape is never something that should be taken lightly, and it can seriously ruin your career. As it should!
Maybe CeeLo will think twice before saying awful things!
