Could Rachel Zoe‘s days as a stylist be numbered?
Doubtful, but other stylists may be slowly losing their clientele as celebrities are ditching the $8,000/day bill and becoming brave enough to dress themselves.
Personal stylist Arianne Phillips explains why actress like Diane Kruger and Marion Cotillard choose to dress themselves all by their lonesome:
“Both women are not only incredibly talented actresses, they’re extreme beauties in the sense of them both exuding confidence and ease. They’re both clearly working with very sophisticated and informed taste levels in terms of style and importantly, they understand what looks good on them.”
We almost agree with what she’s saying, except for the fact that Diane wasn’t what we would considered a best dressed lady at the Oscars with all those ruffles.
Stylist Shirley Kurate echoes Arianne saying:
“What’s happening now is that studios are cutting budgets for stylists so a lot of girls are dressing themselves. For someone like Diane Kruger or even Tilda Swinton, they’re savvy enough to know what works, and they clearly have direct access to the designers so they’re probably having actual fittings before they hit the red carpet as opposed to someone else in Hollywood working without a stylist, like Blake Lively for example.”
We think it’s great that these ladies think that they can dress themselves, and some of them really do. However, we wouldn’t completely delete stylists numbers especially if they ever end up on the worst dressed list!
