Celeste Rivas’ Dad Denies Rumors Family Received Money From D4vd -- Plus, Child Neglect Investigation Findings Revealed

Celeste Rivas’ father is speaking out.

In the wake of D4vd’s arrest for the murder of the missing 14-year-old, eyes have become fixed on the Rivas family as rumors of eyebrow-raising money exchanges and child neglect accusations have come to the forefront. Over the past several days, rumors have bubbled up claiming the teen’s family received hush money from the Romantic Homicide singer in exchange for their silence on his alleged relationship with the minor. However, her father Jesus Rivas is shutting down the chatter.

In a statement issued to TMZ by attorney Patrick Steinfeld on behalf of the family on Friday, Jesus clarified:

“I never had any contact with this guy and we haven’t received any money from him or anyone in his family.”

How terrible to be questioned like that while going through such a traumatic loss!

As we’ve been following, prosecutors claim to have evidence proving D4vd had a sexual relationship with Celeste prior to her murder in April 2025. During a preliminary hearing brief last week, prosecutors claimed D4vd once drove to the Rivas family home in Lake Elsinore, CA, and “paid a junior high school student in the victim’s class $1,000 to give the victim a cell phone [he] purchased so they could stay in contact.” The prosecutors went on to claim “text exchanges between the victim and defendant contain references to sex, pregnancy, abortion, and use of the Plan B emergency contraceptive.”

So horrifying.

These revelations come after Celeste went missing for the second time last April before being found dead in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla in September. But prior to the gruesome discovery, the Rivas family was reportedly investigated for child neglect. TMZ reported the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation on April 27, 2024 — just days after the teen was reported missing. It’s not clear who filed the concerning report, but the individual “expressed concern about a juvenile who had run away,” according to the outlet.

The RCSD interviewed everyone at the Rivas family home and ultimately found no evidence of neglect, but were obviously unable to interview Celeste herself given her missing status. Almost exactly one year later is the date officials believe she was killed. Eerie.

D4vd has officially been charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances, lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, and mutilating a body. He’s currently being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in LA without bail.
