Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes to iTunes

Inneresting changes to iTunes were announced at Tuesday’s Macworld conference.

By May, all the music (about 10 million songs total) on iTunes will be available in “iTunes Plus” format, the DRAM-free 256-bit version that Apple introduced last year. As of Tuesday, only 8 million songs were available DRM-free.

What does DRM-free mean????

It means Apple will have less control of the shiz you buy from their music store. Currently, y’all are buying “FairPlay”-encrypted tracks that have loads of restrictions.

There’s also going to be a change to the iTunes pricing model.

Apple will add new options for 69 cents and $1.29.

More songs will be offered at the lower price than the higher one, but industry experts assert that it’s a change that the record companies pushed for so they could charge more for ‘new’ music.

Nothing is ever as good as it looks!
