Charla Nash Denied Face And Hand Transplant

So sad!

Charla Nash, the woman that was mauled and blinded by a chimpanzee last year, has been told by an Ohio hospital that it cannot perform a face and hand transplant for her.

The Cleveland Clinic is where the nation’s first face transplant was conducted.

Nash and her family are looking into other hospitals to take on the surgery, which has to be done simultaneously and come from the same donor.

The chimpanzee attacked Nash after its owner asked her to help lure the animal back into her house. The chimp ripped off Charla’s hands, nose, lips and eyelids. The transplant would be amazing as it would help her smell, breathe, eat and in general be more independent.

The world of medicine is always improving and we sincerely hope there is a facility that can help Charla and her family.
