In a new interview with Billboard, the 26-year-old FINALLY admitted once and for all that he was romantically involved with Selena Gomez back in 2016 when the pair worked on the aptly-titled hit We Don’t Talk Anymore together. We could have told you that!
But here’s another tid bit… Charlie alludes to a certain Justin Bieber as to why things fizzled out!

When asked about his relationship with the 25-year-old songstress, the Attention singer revealed:
“I don’t kiss and tell, but the only way a song like that can come across as real is if there’s something going on behind the scenes. And that’s what was happening [with Gomez]. Very short-lived, very small, but very impactful. And it really messed me up. I’m trying to put this the best way possible: It wasn’t like I was the only person on her mind. And I think I knew that going in — what I was getting myself into.”
Wow! As you may recall, this was around the same time Selly was rekindling her friendship with the Biebs (before she dated The Weeknd). And now… she’s back with Justin! Keep up, y’all!
Charlie added of the song they created together:
“[The song] is about a particular moment in my life when someone very close to me wanted the attention of somebody else. When I found that out and we ended it, I might have done shady things, too, and she might have asked me, ├óΓé¼╦£How long has this been going on?!'”
