China is challenging what it means to be a boy band — specifically, the “boy” part!
Don’t let the spiked hair and Justin Bieber-esque drop-crotch pants fool you, the country’s new band FFC-Acrush is made up of five cisgender girls!
The quintet — who told VICE they’d prefer to be referred to as m├äΓÇói sh├â┬áoni├â┬ín, or “handsome youths” — seemingly hasn’t even dropped any music yet. But Acrush already has a fanbase ready and willing to throw their wallets at whatever they release.

According to Wang Tianhai, mastermind behind the gender-bending group, Acrush fits in to the “genderless” trend he believes is the future of China. Not only does he see this band as the country’s answer to K-Pop, but he hopes its the start of China’s popstar industrial complex!
