This is so horrible.
A Chinese high school’s camera captured the worst footage ever of a Chinese student jumping out of a school window to his death in the middle of his class.
The pupil identified as Xiao Zhen can be seen sitting motionless at the bottom right of the video before suddenly standing up and moving to an unseen part of the room. It is at this point that he jumps out of the window.
His classmates’ distraught responses are hard to watch. Some run from the room, one runs to the front of the class and points frantically at their teacher, and another just paces back and forth holding her head in her arms.
Here’s what the description of the video reads:
“High school student Xiao Zhen leaps to his death from a a window in the middle of class. It is believed this happened due to pressure of preparing for college entrance exams.”
The the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 287,000 Chinese citizens commit suicide each year, and the very high suicide rate among Chinese youth has been blamed, in the past, on the intense academic pressures.
The video of the incredibly sad event occurred while the student was preparing for his college entrance exams.
Obviously these academic pressures need to change, and they need to change right now.
