Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson are very much still a couple!
The normally private pair put their romance on display and any existing breakup rumors to bed when they made a rare public appearance at the Place for Peace event in New York City on Friday night. The event was held by Forest Whitaker‘s Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative.

The outing featured a dinner and fundraising auction, so the Coldplay frontman and his girlfriend came dressed to impress!
Chris reportedly wore a collared shirt, black slacks, and a black tie for a muted but dapper look. On the other hand, Dakota opted for a bright pop of color with the multicolored patterned dress she sported for the night. The Fifty Shades of Grey actress appeared to complete her ensemble by wearing her man’s suit jacket draped over her shoulders.

According to onlookers at the party, the 29-year-old movie star and her rockstar boyfriend looked super cozy together. Johnson was frequently spotted with her hands sweetly draped over Martin’s knee. You can check out pics of ’em together (HERE).
Interestingly enough, the gala just happened to fall on Martin’s ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow‘s 47th birthday. As you surely know, the former couple were married from 2003-2016 and share two kids together; 15-year-old Apple and 13-year-old Moses.
The duo’s public outing comes less than a month after sources told Us Weekly they were fully back together. As we reported back in June, Chris and Dakota briefly called it quits after dating for two years.
There was a brief period of time between their rekindled romance, though, where the singer-songwriter was rumored to be hooking up with Dua Lipa. But, if that tale is to be believed, their fling clearly didn’t last very long!
Let’s not forget the couple also spent some time vacationing in the Hamptons with the Goop founder and husband Brad Falchuck last month, too. So, we’re glad to see ’em still going strong!
Earlier this year in April, before things momentarily turned sour, a source with inside information about the two told E! News things were getting very serious between the Bad Times at the El Royale star and her beau. They shared:
“An engagement could definitely be in the cards.”
Additionally, the insider explained that “their families hang out often and they are all very comfortable with each other,” noting the special relationship Dakota shares with Paltrow.
Hopefully these two can keep the good times coming!
