Hardball with Chris Matthews is going to very interesting tonight!
The brother of the MSNBC personality, James R. Matthews, has been arrested on charges of perjury.
First of all, we were shocked to learn that Chris’s brother is in fact a Republican. Not only that, he is Republican commissioner of Pennsylvania’s Montgomery County! James lost his reelection bid for the position and is poised to step down in just a few weeks, but now, his good name has been smeared from probably ever running again. A local Pennsylvania paper called the Norristown Times Herald broke a story yesterday they are dubbing “breakfastgate.” (Of course!) They revealed that James lied under oath during a state investigation into his alleged personal meetings with another local politician to dicuss county business over, you guessed it, a short stack and sunny side up eggs.
These meetings are a clear violation of the state’s open meeting laws, which requires prior notice and public access for any meetings where government business is on the agenda. He lied about going; they caught him in the act. Turns out, one the pap’s reporters also enjoys the French Toast platter at East Norritown diner, their breakfast nook of choice.
Thus, Chris Matthew’s brother now has a scarlet P on his career report.
And Chris starts reaming people a new one in 3…2…1…
