We know Christina Milian will insist it was just a joke, but some matters should not be joked about.
During a recent interview with Latina magazine, the singer and reality TV star broached the subject of body image issues in the entertainment industry.
First she explained how she works to be a positive role model for five-year-old daughter Violet:
“I want Violet to be proud of every little thing that is her├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥her hair, her body. We’re all different and from early on I’ve always said she has a very confident personality and I want her to maintain that. I don’t want her to be stuck thinking about the scale or thinking, ├óΓé¼╦£I gotta have straight hair’ and all of this.”
Unfortunately she also made a rather insensitive remark about the very serious issue of eating disorders, saying:
“No [eating] disorders, although I considered it [Laughs]. I was like maybe if I chew and spit this could work.”
Her comment makes it seem like eating disorders are a choice, but the truth is it’s a dangerous illness that can have grave effects on a sufferer’s health.
And while the 33-year-old seems happy in her relationship with Lil Wayne, she stays out of friend Karrueche Tran‘s on/off relationship with Chris Brown:
“I try to stay out of it because at the end of the day, it’s none of my business. We don’t waste our time sitting there trying to pry into each other’s lives. If you want to open up about something, then do it. If you don’t and don’t feel like being judged, I totally get it. Although, I’m not one to judge and she knows that.
I was just with them in New York and we all went to Chris’ show and had a really good time. Chris is a cool guy. They go through their ups and downs, but that’s between them. They love each other and that’s another world. You can’t stop real love. You’re going to go through stuff, but the heart’s there and there’s nothing you can do. You can’t help it [Laughs]!”
This interview was probably done BEFORE the baby momma-fueled breakup. Ha!
