Chuck E. Cheese has been fired.
The owners of the children’s pizza restaurants slash arcade center have deemed the memorable character as old news. The company will launch a new, more hip version of Chuck E. Cheese as an electric guitar wielding rock star.
The mascot’s voice will be different, as well.
Our main man, er, mouse has come a long way in the 35 years he’s been around. Back in the day he used to even have a cigar prop which we’re glad we don’t remember.
We understand why a company would want to remodel their mascot when sales haven’t been strong in the 500 stores around the country that offer games, prizes and a musical variety musical show.
Still, we can’t help but feel a part our childhood has been replaced, as well.
Which breaks our hearts.
